How to Service and Repair a Transmission Mount on Dodge Ram 1500?

Before you service or repair the transmission mount, lift the vehicle on a hoist and put a transmission jack under the transmission. After removing the support cushion stud nuts, elevate the back end of both the engine and transmission slightly. After that, undo the screws connecting the support cushion to the transmission support bracket and lift the piece out. Should you need to, unscrew the bolts that hold the transmission support bracket to the transmission. To install the bracket, fix it back to the transmission as shown and install new bolts, securing them to a recommended tightness of 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.). After that, place the support cushion onto the transmission support bracket, attach the stud nuts to it and tighten them to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). With the transmission jack in place, lower the transmission and cushion onto the crossmember, put in the cushion bolts and tighten each to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Afterward, take out the transmission jack and slowly drive the vehicle down from the braces.

How to Service a Transmission Mount on Dodge Ram 2500?

Before you even touch the transmission mount, make sure the car is safely raised and a transmission jack is below the mid-section. Taking out the support cushion stud nuts, now slightly raise the back of the transmission and engine. Then, eliminate the bolts holding the support cushion in place and lift it out. Should you need to, also take out the bolts securing the transmission support bracket to the transmission. If the transmission support bracket was taken off, slide it back on the transmission and secure with three new bolts which should be tightened to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) torque. After that, place the support cushion onto the transmission support bracket, fit the stud nuts and tighten them until you reach 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) torque. Raise the transmission and support cushion out of the vehicle using the transmission jack. Next, place them onto the crossmember, then attach the bolts and tighten each one to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) torque. Remove the transmission jack and bring the vehicle down onto the ground.
