To start the oil pan service or repair, turn off the car, wait for it to cool down, take the negative battery cable out in the trunk and remove the engine oil indicator. Place the vehicle on a lift and then get rid of both the splash shield and the retaining bolts on the underside. Drain all engine oil from the vehicle and then take out the oil filter. After that, let go of the steering coupler bolt and take the coupler from the rack, next unplug the power steering pressure switch electrical connector and finally unhook the bolts holding the steering rack in place. Let go of the power steering line support and move the rack away from the frame. Pull out the structural collar, remove the bolt connecting the generator bracket to the oil pan and remove the A/C compressor bracket to oil pan lower bolt. Sun safely take out the lower timing chain cover screws that hold it to the oil pan, so that all four bolts are loose in order to protect the lower timing cover. Remove the bolts holding the oil pan in place and then unfasten the oil pan and the gasket. Wash the oil pan and all sealing areas, then check the timing chain cover gaskets to find out if replacement is needed. Use a 1/8 inch bead of Mopar Engine RTV GEN II on the front and rear T-joints and next apply the oil pan gasket to the block. Place the oil pan and all fasteners, tightening first by hand, then tighten the lower timing chain cover bolts to 12 Nm, next the oil pan bolts to 28 Nm and finally the nuts to 12 Nm. Install the first part of the lower bolt connecting the A/C compressor to the oil pan and tighten it to 28 Nm. Then, install the remaining lower bolt on the alternator bracket and tighten as instructed. Attach the oil filter, drain plug and finish with the structural collar. Attach the steering gear and use 70 Nm to tighten the bolts that hold it in place. Attach a new lower pinch bolt to the end of the steering coupling and tighten it until it reaches 30 Nm. Thereafter, plug the electrical connector into the steering gear. Fit the support under both power steering lines and tighten them, then bolt on the splash shield followed by its retaining bolts. Go down with the vehicle, set up the engine oil level indicator, pump in the right oil to the designed level, attach the negative battery cable, start the engine and look for oil leaks.
