How to Install Exhaust Valve and Intake Valves on Dodge Challenger?

In installing the intake and exhaust valves, first thoroughly clean the valves and eliminate burned, warped or cracked valves. Clean the carbon and varnish collected in the inside of valve guides with a trustworthy guide cleaner. Check the valve stems against wear, and replace the valve where wear is more than 0.051 mm (0.002 inch). Use clean engine oil to issue a coating over the valve stems and fit them on the cylinder head. When the valves or seats have been reground, the valve stem height should be checked and where the valve is too long, the cylinder head should be replaced. Replace with new seals (3) the valve guides, then the valve springs (6) and valve retainers (2). Insert the valve spring compressor C-3422-D (1), using the adapter 8464 and compress the valve springs and install the locks and the tool should be released. In the case the valves or seats are ground, measure the installed height of springs at the bottom of the spring seat in the cylinder head to the bottom surface of the spring retainer. Lastly, work in the cylinder head.

First, add clean engine oil along the valve stem and put the valve into the cylinder head. After that, insert the valve stem seal, making sure it is fully pushed in and the spring on top is intact. After that, place the spring on top and attach its retainer. Position the spring compressor and then compress the valve spring to place the two retainer halves. Once the valve spring compressor is removed, check that the two retainer halves and the retainer are both seated. Apply clean engine oil to the camshaft journal and slide the left camshaft so the sprocket dowel is at 11 o'clock and the right camshaft so the sprocket dowel is at 12 o'clock.
