Before working on the axle shaft, put the car on a lift in neutral, disconnect all the brakes and lower the lift. After that, get rid of the cotter pin, nut retainer and axle hub nut and then the hub bearing bolts. Pull the hub bearing from the steering knuckle and then take out the axle shaft assembly from the axle. Also, lift off the brake rotor shield mounted to the hub bearing or knuckle. Before installation, wipe the shaft clean and grease the splines, seal area and bore lightly with Mopar Wheel Bearing Grease or a suitable grease. Put the brake rotor shield on the knuckle and then place the axle shaft into the differential side gears. Put in the hub bearing and tighten the bolts to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). Following this, position the washer on the axle, screw the nut in, ensuring you torque it to 237 Nm (175 ft. lbs.) and then slide the nut retainer onto the nut. When all is done, reinstall the brake components back into your car.
