How to Maintain a Parking Assist Distance Sensor on Jeep Commander?

Before working with the Parking Assist Distance Sensor, first remove and disconnect the negative cable of the battery. Then, unmount the bumper fascia at the front of your vehicle. From the back, take out the wire harness connector from the park assist sensor connector socket. Separate the sensor bracket latch from both sides of the sensor by pressing it away from top and bottom tabs. Afterward, take the O-ring out from around the sensor membrane's protruding section. The park assist sensors and sensor spacers can be replaced by themselves, but the sensor brackets are part of and bonded to the back of the front bumper.

How to Service and Repair a Parking Assist Distance Sensor at the Rear on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Start by putting a new O-ring spacer over the sensor's membrane protrusion, ensuring the wide side of the O-ring seats itself against the sensor inside and the narrow side is away from the sensor. After installing the new bracket, move the sensor to it and snap its latch over the top and bottom tabs until the spacer is visible between them. Slide the bracket and sensor assembly in place and press it up against the latch features in the body until the tabs secure it and the sensor membrane is flush on the outer side of the fascia molding. If just the sensor or the sensor spacer is being replaced, line the back of the brushless sensor up with the bracket on the rear bumper fascia, waiting until you hear the latch snap. Each sensor membrane should be centered in the hole of the rear fascia and the O-ring spacers must not be clamped, otherwise park assist performance can suffer. Connect the wire harness connector to the sensor connector from the back of the fascia, install the bumper fascia into place at the back of the vehicle and complete the battery reconnection sequence.

Before working with the Parking Assist Distance Sensor, first remove and disconnect the negative cable of the battery. Then, unmount the bumper fascia at the front of your vehicle. From the back, take out the wire harness connector from the park assist sensor connector socket. Separate the sensor bracket latch from both sides of the sensor by pressing it away from top and bottom tabs. Afterward, take the O-ring out from around the sensor membrane's protruding section. The park assist sensors and sensor spacers can be replaced by themselves, but the sensor brackets are part of and bonded to the back of the front bumper.

Q: How to Service and Repair a Parking Assist Distance Sensor at the Rear on Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A:
Start by putting a new O-ring spacer over the sensor's membrane protrusion, ensuring the wide side of the O-ring seats itself against the sensor inside and the narrow side is away from the sensor. After installing the new bracket, move the sensor to it and snap its latch over the top and bottom tabs until the spacer is visible between them. Slide the bracket and sensor assembly in place and press it up against the latch features in the body until the tabs secure it and the sensor membrane is flush on the outer side of the fascia molding. If just the sensor or the sensor spacer is being replaced, line the back of the brushless sensor up with the bracket on the rear bumper fascia, waiting until you hear the latch snap. Each sensor membrane should be centered in the hole of the rear fascia and the O-ring spacers must not be clamped, otherwise park assist performance can suffer. Connect the wire harness connector to the sensor connector from the back of the fascia, install the bumper fascia into place at the back of the vehicle and complete the battery reconnection sequence.
