To service the wiper switch, first turn off the air bag system by isolating the negative battery cable so it will take two minutes for it to discharge. Securely remove the screw connecting the lower tiller cover to the center switch, then unsnap and remove both sides of the cover. Unplug the wire harness connector coming from the instrument panel for the right multi-function switch from the switch connector receptacle. After that, unscrew the right multi-function switch from its mounting position and then take the switch out. Place the multi-function switch into the mounting housing and use the screws to hold it in place, tightening both to 2.5 Nm (22 in. lbs.). Connect the multi-function switch connector for the right part of the dash, then tilt the shroud for the steering wheel down to place it over the switch and use a screw to secure the shroud to the switch's mounting housing, turning the screw until it registers 1.9 Nm (17 in. lbs.). First, set the upper tilting column shroud over the steering column so that the button of the hazard warning switch passes through its hole, next, make sure both shrouds are aligned and snap them together. After that, attach the negative battery cable back.
