The first thing to do is take apart the vibration damper, fan, hub assembly and the fan shroud. After that, disconnect the accessory drive brackets from the timing case cover, then the A/C compressor if available and the generator bracket assembly from the cylinder head and relocate them all on the same side. Unbolt the cover that fixes the oil pan to the timing case, as well as the cover to cylinder block bolts and remove the timing case cover and its gasket. Take out the oil seal from the front part of the timing case cover. The timing case cover, oil pan and cylinder block should be cleaned on the gasket surfaces before installation. Set the open side of the crankshaft oil seal into the timing case cover, make sure the cover is placed at the seal and use Tool 6139 to press the seal in place. First, fit the gasket on the cylinder block and then install the timing case cover over the oil pan gasket and cylinder block. Place Timing Case Cover Alignment and Seal Installation Tool 6139 into the rear crankshaft opening in the cover. Attach the timing case cover to the cylinder block and add and secure the 1/4 inch bolts with 7 Nm (60 in. lbs.) of torque, the 5/16 inch bolts to 22 Nm (192 in. lbs.) of torque and the 1/4 inch bolts from the oil pan to the cover with 9.5 Nm (84 in. lbs.). Set the cover alignment tool to its side, apply engine oil to the seal contact surface, coat the crankshaft keyway with Mopar Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant and slip in the key. After the key, set in the vibration damper, put on the A/C compressor (if you have it) and the generator bracket assembly. The engine fan, hub assembly, shroud and serpentine drive belt come next; just make sure to reattach the negative battery cable.
