2005 Dodge Durango Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Blend Door Actuator and Motor on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: The first step to servicing the air door actuator and motor is to disconnect the negative battery cable to stop the air bag system and allow two minutes for the air bag capacitor to empty without risking sudden deployment. Undo the screws fastening the panel door and floor/defrost door actuators to the driver side of the HVAC housing and take out the HVAC connector from each actuator. Then, take out the mode door actuator(s) from the HVAC housing. Place the mode door actuator(s) at the driver side part of the HVAC, so that the actuator's output shaft links up with the linkage for the mode-air door. Following assembly, attach the panel door and floor/defrost door actuators to the HVAC housing using screws, set the torque at 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Attach the connector of the HVAC wire harness to the mode door actuator(s) and then place the negative battery cable back. In the end, start the Actuator Calibration process with help from a scan tool.
