How to Safely Service the Cruise Control Switch on Dodge Challenger?

Make sure the air bag system is turned off before you service the cruise control switch to avoid accidents. Place the front wheels forward and take out the negative battery cable. Give the front air bag system capacitor the opportunity to discharge for two minutes before starting to remove the steering wheel or any other air bag components. Locate air bag driver part number 3 and remove it first. After that, remove the electrical connector from the speed control switch with part number 2. First unscrew part number 3 from the front of the speed control switch, then unscrew parts number 2 from the rear. Next, pull out switch 2 on the speed control from the steering wheel.

How to Maintain and Fix a Cruise Control Switch on Dodge Ram 1500?

For cruise control switch maintenance, first check from the engine control computer to see if you have a switch with or without an attached pigtail lead, as the JTEC system has switches with none and NGC switches have these. Remove the screw under the switch and then take the switch off the steering wheel. If using the first method, take out the electrical connector from the switch or if you're using the second method, take out the switch pigtail wire harness from the main steering wheel wire harness. Insert the connector into the switch or connect the pigtail wire harness to the steering wheel harness, so that no wires are pressed together. Fit the switch back onto the steering wheel and then mount and tighten the switch using the specified torque.

Make sure the air bag system is turned off before you service the cruise control switch to avoid accidents. Place the front wheels forward and take out the negative battery cable. Give the front air bag system capacitor the opportunity to discharge for two minutes before starting to remove the steering wheel or any other air bag components. Locate air bag driver part number 3 and remove it first. After that, remove the electrical connector from the speed control switch with part number 2. First unscrew part number 3 from the front of the speed control switch, then unscrew parts number 2 from the rear. Next, pull out switch 2 on the speed control from the steering wheel.

For cruise control switch maintenance, first check from the engine control computer to see if you have a switch with or without an attached pigtail lead, as the JTEC system has switches with none and NGC switches have these. Remove the screw under the switch and then take the switch off the steering wheel. If using the first method, take out the electrical connector from the switch or if you're using the second method, take out the switch pigtail wire harness from the main steering wheel wire harness. Insert the connector into the switch or connect the pigtail wire harness to the steering wheel harness, so that no wires are pressed together. Fit the switch back onto the steering wheel and then mount and tighten the switch using the specified torque.
