How to Safely Service an Air Bag Sensor on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Service the front impact sensor by turning off the supplemental restraint system, isolating the battery negative terminal and waiting two minutes to let the system capacitor release safely. Don't hit or kick the sensor at the front of your car, as this might harm it and make its calibration wrong; if you drop it, you will need to order a new one. Everything begins with detaching the headlamp and dash wire harness connector from the right or left front impact sensor connector receptacle. Then, take out the two nuts that hold the sensor to the right or left radiator member and then get rid of the front impact sensor from the engine bay.

How to Service an Air Bag Sensor for Front Impact on Jeep Wrangler?

For front impact sensor service, cut the SRS connection, take out the battery and isolate the negative cable, then wait 2 minutes for the discharge of the system capacitor. It is very important not to strike or drop the front impact sensor, because this could cause damage or make its calibration inaccurate; a dropped sensor cannot be fixed. It is possible to place the front and side impact sensors in either location. Remove the single screw that holds the impact sensor to the board on the inside of the front end module carrier inboard of either the right or left headlamp. You should also pull the engine compartment wire harness connector from the right or left front impact sensor receptacle. Afterward, take out the impact sensor from the engine compartment.
