When removing the lower intake manifold on the motorcycle, make sure you relieve the fuel system pressure. Pull off the negative terminal of the battery from the remote ground terminal or battery, additionally if the car has one, remove the engine hood. Then, please, unbolt the upper radiator hose retainer from the upper intake manifold, and, also, please, unbolt the intake resonator with the help of a resonator hose clamp, remove its attaching pin, and detach the resonator. Remove the wiring harness from the MAP sensor and the Electronic Throttle Control, and the PCV valve hose, the vapor purge hose, and the brake booster hoses. Take off the wiring harness retainers off the upper intake support bracket and the retainer of the stud bolt. Next, take out the nuts, and the stud bolt, and lastly, take off the upper intake manifold bracket. Loosen the nut of the bracket at the heater core return tube and bear in mind that 2015 and later models do not have nut holding the Heater core return tube. Unbolt the support bracket to upper manifold nuts, loosen the bolts on the manifold while still in place and then, the upper intake manifold can be taken off. Remove the six upper-to-lower intake manifold gaskets while the engine remains open, and ensure that none of the intake ports to are not exposed to packs with dust. If so, it will be necessary to peel the insulator to the front valve cover. For the lower intake manifold, I removed the fuel line connecting to the fuel rail and also the fuel injectors plus the fuel rail, mainly because the lower intake manifold can be pulled off with these in place. Pop the wiring harness retainer off the end of the manifold and then swing the harness out of the way. Loosen, and then take off the lower intake manifold bolts and take the manifold off the cylinder heads and the aforementioned six manifold-to-cylinder head seals. During the installation of the lower intake manifold, the surfaces on the cylinder heads, cylinder block and on the intake manifold must be free from contaminants and must be cleaned if need be using gasket removal solvents. The first step is to scrub the surfaces with a gasket scraper to remove all the residues of the previous sealant and gasket material, after this clean the surfaces with lacquer thinner or acetone. If removed, fits the fuel injectors, as well as the fuel rail. To replace the new intake manifold gasket, to the manifold, do not leave any rag or towel in the manifold ports. Lower the lower intake manifold steadily and install the mounting bolts with only finger-tightness, then use the torque wrench to tighten the bolts in several sequences and the final torque values. After that, it is necessary to set the upper intake manifold and, examining the condition of the rubber gaskets at each intake port, replace them, if necessary. If the insulator was removed, set the insulator on the mounting pins, then install the upper intake manifold to the lower intake manifold with the bolts pulled up and tighten in a sequence to the torque specs. Last, but not least, if the cooling system was drained, fill it with the coolant, switch on the engine and, examine for any leakage and correct functioning.
