- Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Expansion Valve on Dodge Charger?A:First, remove and isolate the negative battery cable and afterward, recover all the refrigerant in the system. After that, take out bolt 5 that fastens the refrigerant line mounting bracket 6 to the left front shock tower 4, as well as the nut 9 securing the refrigerant line tapping block 10 to the A/C expansion valve 1. Take the wire harness 3 away from the A/C pressure transducer 2 to allow access to the A/C expansion valve. Remove the refrigerant suction line 7 and the refrigerant liquid line 8 from the A/C expansion valve and place the refrigerant lines aside. Get rid of the dual plane seal on the suction and liquid line fittings. Next, add plugs to or tape over, the opened suction and liquid line fittings. Remove the A/C liquid and suction lines from the A/C expansion valve and place the refrigerant lines so they are easy to reach. Toss away the O-ring seals, then put plugs in or cover the opened liquid and suction line fittings with tape. Pull out the two bolts that hold the A/C expansion valve to the evaporator tube tapping block and then take the A/C expansion valve from the block and throw away the O-ring seals. After that, install plugs in the opened end fittings of the evaporator tube and seal every port on the expansion valve using tape.
