It is best to use a brake line made of preformed metal tubing for fixing brakes, but in case factory parts cannot be found, a double-wall steel tube may be used in an emergency. To begin, remove the broken tube with a Tubing Cutter and ream its edges so there is a good flare. Place the new tube nut on the tube, slide the tube into the flaring tool and apply it. Put the gauge form on the end of the tube and feed the tubing into the flaring tool until you meet the recessed notch in the gauge that fits the tube. Tighten the tool bar and after that insert the end of the gauge into the tube. Hold the outer edge of the compression disc above where the gauge and screw meet and lock the tapered screw in the center of the disc. As soon as the plug gauge is securely on the jaws of the flaring tool, tighten the tool handle to make the inverted flare.
