How to Maintain the Rear Center Seat Belt and Retractor on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The rear center seat belt and retractor is serviced by folding the right rear seat cushion forward after unlatching the seat. Lift up the screw in the right rear seat belt buckle bracket, then pull the rear center lower anchor away from it. After that, open the latch on the right rear seat, push back the seat, pull away the carpet and then remove the back panel from the vehicle. Loosen up the two screws holding the belt web guide to the top rear seat back on the right side and then take off the trim. Wedge the lower anchor and belt web guide between the upper edge of the seat back and the top of the retractor. Then, take the seat back latch cable fitting off the cable support. Those screws hold the retractor in place. After taking out one screw, remove the retractor and rear center seat belt unit from the seat back panel. Put the rear center seat belt and retractor onto the seat back panel, screw the retractor to the top with a tightening torque of 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.), then install the upper latch plate. Push the seat back latch cable plunger onto the retractor latch lever and insert the cable ending into the cable support on the retractor. Put the rear seat belt lower anchor through the top of the back panel and then hook the belt web guide back into place. Screw the belt web guide into the top of the right rear seat back panel using 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.), then set the seat back panel back into place. Reinsert the cargo area carpet under the seat back and straighten out the right rear seat back so that it's upright. Place the rear center seat belt lower anchor where the right rear seat belt buckle unit bracket is, on the rear floor panel and install and tighten the screw so it holds the anchor to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). After that, fold the right rear seat cushion and fasten it in its usual seating position.

How to Service and Repair a Front Seat Belt in a Four-Door on Jeep Wrangler?

Before servicing the front seat belt and retractor unit in a four-door vehicle, first disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable to shut down the supplemental restraint system and then wait two minutes for its capacitor to discharge. Check every belt, buckle, bracket, retraction system, strap and anchor to make sure they are installed right and if you notice any frayed or cut seal, change that belt. In case the seat belt tensioner fails to deploy, go with the advised procedures for non-deployed supplemental restraints; if it deploys, use the directions specified once a seat belt tensioner deploys. Pull the front seat as far forward as it will go to reach the lower anchor and the trim on the B-pillar easily. Take out the screw holding the lower anchor to the outboard front seat frame, unsnap and throw out the trim cover from the belt loop on the front seat and remove the screw holding the loop to the height adjuster on the upper B-pillar. After that, remove the seat belt turning loop from the seat height adjuster, take the lower trim off the inside part of the B-pillar and slide the seat belt webbing through the slot in the B-pillar lower trim. Disconnect the yellow wire from the tensioner initiator at the seat belt retractor, unscrew the lower retractor bracket from the B-pillar and remove both seat belt and retractor as one piece.
