The first thing to do is take off the air cleaner assembly and the air inlet hose and then the cylinder head cover. Following this, take off the rocker assembly and push rods, noting the split in the push rods to know which goes where. Take away the intake manifold and then pull out the yoke retainer and the two yokes. Slide the Hydraulic Tappet Remover/Installer Tool C-4129-A into the cylinder head through the opening until it is seated in the tappet head and then pull it out as you turn it. You need to label every tappet if you remove them, so they stay organized for proper installation later. If one of the bores or tappets in the block is damaged, first ream it to the next oversize and then replace it using an oversize tappet. To install the tappets, lubricate them, then slide them back to their original placement, so the upside of the tappets shows the oil feed hole. Attach the aligning yokes so the Arrow points at the camshaft, then slide on the yoke retainer and tighten the bolts to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) and finally put back the intake manifold. Reconnect the push rods and rocker arms, slide the cylinder head cover back in place, put the air cleaner assembly on and hose the air inlet. Turn the engine on and wait until it warms until all hydraulic tappets are quiet and full of oil, to prevent valve system damage.
