Insert the tappets and retainer assembly and then put in the right and left cylinder heads with all pushrods properly resettled. After installing the rocker arms and shaft assembly, tighten the rocker arm shaft bolts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.), following the right order. Now, begin by putting in the timing chain cover, oil pick-up tube and oil pan. Install the intake manifold using the sequence, tightening the bolts to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.), then put on the cylinder head covers, the A/C compressor, generator and accessory drive belt. First put in the radiator, air cleaner housing and clean air tube and then connect the negative battery cable. Oil the cooling system and engine, install the engine covers and after that, start the engine to spot any possible leaks.

Adhere Chain Tensioner Wedge, Special Tool 8379, to the secondary chain drive, mark the spot where the chain connects with the gear and use the reference position for alignment. After that, get rid of the camshaft drive gear retaining bolt and slowly take the camshaft drive gear off. Starting from the camshaft drive gear, rotate it so that the V6 on the pictured gear lines up exactly with the V6 on the gear at the opposite end. With Special Tool 8428 Camshaft Wrench, turn the camshaft until the positioning dowel on the camshaft matches the slot found on the camshaft drive gear. Excess oil must be cleaned off the camshaft sprocket retaining bolt before reinstalling it to keep it from being over-tightened and hitting more than its limitation. Install the camshaft drive gear, clean oil from the bolt and attach it with the retaining bolt. Paint the nut flush with the puller, then tighten the retaining bolt to 122 Nm (90 ft. lbs.) using Special Tools, Spanner Wrench 6958 with Adapter Pins 8346 and a suitable torque wrench. Once done, take out Special Tool 8379 and turn the crankshaft two times. Make sure the camshaft drive gear V6 marks are lined up. Putting on the cylinder head covers is the last part of the install.
