Before installing the integrated rear crankshaft seal, inspect the crankshaft against the seal and clean the sealing areas well. Add engine oil to the inner portion of the seal lip, so that it bends consistently inside toward the engine. Slide seal 6926 on top of special tool 6926 and the crankshaft and after that gently tighten each seal retaining bolt a small amount using your fingertips. To stop oil from leaking at sealing joints, place Special Tools 8225 onto the pan rail using the oil pan fasteners, so the "2.7L" stamp is facing the cylinder block and the seal flange matches the block oil pan sealing surface. Once Special Tool 8225 is set between the cylinder and the seal assembly with high pressure, move the screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) and then release the tool. After that, fit in the oil pan, flex plate, backing plate and attaching bolts before installing the transmission. After that, attach the lower splash shield retaining bolts and fit the lower splash shield, lower the vehicle, add oil, link the negative cable and turn on the engine to examine it for leaks.
