- Q: How to Remove and Replace the Left Exhaust Manifold on Dodge Challenger?A:Gasket surfaces need to be cleaned before you are able to remove and replace the left exhaust manifold. While swapping the exhaust manifold, tighten the exhaust outlet studs to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.). Secure the exhaust manifold (7) and gasket (1) with the retaining bolts (2), then tighten them in a pattern starting from the center and taking them all around to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Attach the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold and ensure all the ball flange nuts (1) are tightened to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Attach the upper and lower heat shields to the exhaust by putting two bolts in and tightening them to 12 Nm (105 in.lbs.). Attach the engine mount bracket (2) with the three bolts (1) and tighten the bolts to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.). Technicians attach the engine mount. Place the upstream oxygen sensor into the engine. After that, attach and tighten the upper two exhaust manifold heat shield nuts to 8 Nm (73 in.lbs.) and lastly, plug in the negative battery cable.

Following that, fit the exhaust pipe to the manifold and then set in place the lower heat shield and upper heat shield. Add the oxygen sensor, hook up its electrical connector and then connect the downstream oxygen sensor's connector. Place the EGR tube with new gaskets and tighten the screws to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.). Once all other connections are in place, held in place, connect the other end of the battery cable to its negative post.
