Prior to serving or repairing the seat belt, detach and set apart the negative battery cable and give it two minutes to ensure the air bag automated system is fully discharged. First, remove the outboard trim cover from the seat of the driver's side. Then, take out the seat belt lower anchor nut from the seat frame. Following this, unmount the upper turning loop cover and the bolt that holds it and then remove the lower trim on the B-pillar. Remove a screw from the seat belt web in the front, detach the tensioner squib connector and also remove a screw between the upper retractor indexing tabs in the B-pillar. In a sedan, first remove the lower anchorage bolt, the upper panel near the pillar, the upper retaining bolt and the retractor mount, then pull the belt inboard to release the tabs. In a wagon, get rid of the lower seat belt anchor bolt, the quarter trim panel and the rear seat belt retractor retaining nut. For the back middle seat of a sedan, take out the seat cushion, the support nut for the rear seat belt, the rear shelf trim cover and the nut for the center retractor. To work on the wagon, open the boot and remove the left side trim panel on the seat back, disconnect the rear seat belt latch cable from its seat frame and undo the bolt at the rear center seat belt retractor.

Black, keyed, lower anchor buckles are attached to the front right center seat section in regular cab trucks, whereas quad and mega cab trucks have a front center seat lap belt on that same side. Removing the stowage tray from the rear floor panel, just behind the seat, is necessary for standard cab vehicles. After that, reach over the front seat to take off the screw holding the lower anchor to the center seat support bracket. Go in from the side cushion of the center seat to the front outboard seat to pull the seat belt buckle through the elastic band on the center cushion. Next, uninstall the front center's seat belt buckle, lap belt or anchor buckle unit.
