How to Service and Repair a Washer Pump on Dodge Charger?

First, disconnect the terminal of the battery negative cable to service or repair the windshield washer pump. Let the washer fluid run out into a clean container by cutting off the windshield washer hose from the pump at the front. The next step is to take out the washer reservoir. After that, lift the existing washer pump motor out of the reservoir, look at the grommet and put in a fresh grommet when changing the motor for a new one.

The first part of servicing a diesel engine's windshield washer pump is to isolate the negative battery cable. After that, pull the washer hose from the 8th nipple and let the fluid drain into a clean pitcher so you can use it elsewhere. Remove the left headlamp and dash wire harness connector from washer pump/motor unit connector receptacle 1. Hold the housing of the washer pump/motor near its top and pull at it lightly outward, away from the washer reservoir until you disconnect the snap post from the receptacle. Lift the washer pump/motor unit out of the reservoir enough to remove the barbed nipple 7 on the pump from the rubber seal 4 in the tank. After that, remove the washer pump/motor unit at the back of the washer reservoir and throw out the rubber grommet seal from its hole.

Hold the housing of the washer pump/motor near its top and pull at it lightly outward, away from the washer reservoir until you disconnect the snap post from the receptacle. Lift the washer pump/motor unit out of the reservoir enough to remove the barbed nipple 7 on the pump from the rubber seal 4 in the tank. After that, remove the washer pump/motor unit at the back of the washer reservoir and throw out the rubber grommet seal from its hole.
